10 GPA boosting tips and then some

Russ Egan over at The Student Help Forum has compiled a list of 10 tips to help boost your GPA (7 of them are from Pick the Brain’s John Wesley, who I will also credit). What are few things I took note of? The idea of doing a weekly review to further memorize material, as well as removing distractions, something I’m not good at.

On top of these tips, I coincidentally left a comment on Lifehacker the other day addressing this very topic.

1) If a class might be difficult for you, take it during the summer at a community college, try to test out via a CLEP test, or take it pass/fail. Most schools do not count grades when credits are transferred in or when a CLEP test is taken. Taking the course pass/fail will get you the credits and won’t affect your GPA.

2) Take an online class. Most universities have some sort of “distance education” program, a means to take a class when you aren’t actually on campus. These are usually open to students on campus, anyway. Online classes are, in my experience, more flexible and involve less work.

Go to class though, and I mean that. You never know when a teacher might be feeling generous and award some extra credit, or when they might hit you with a surprise pop quiz. In college you have to take the easy points, and the only way to ensure yourself those points is to show up faithfully.

Hopefully, these tips as well as those that can be found at The Student Help Forum will help you raise that GPA.
