Building a brand
I’m going to be honest with you – beer.pizza.tech isn’t exactly search engine friendly when people are searching for college stuff. A lot of people look at the title to determine whether or not the page is relevant and, well, beer.pizza.tech probably confuses them. So why do I use this name, you ask?
I’m trying to stick out. I’m trying to create a brand. For every splog (spam blog) out there trying to make a cheap buck off of recycled content and AdSense, there’s a good one really trying to serve its intended audience. And yeah, those blogs may have “college” in the title, but one quick look and you’ll see a real lack of content.
I’ve been trying to learn more about the importance of branding and have recently been reading a Branding Blog called Brand Identity Guru. Its writer, Scott White, comes across to me as a real authority on brand identity. There are a lot of great articles there, all of which are great reads for entrepreneurs trying to create a lasting brand. Brand identity is where it’s at. For example; when you think of Google, you think of search, right? They don’t have the word “search” anywhere in their name, yet their brand is so far reaching that everyone knows what their site does.
Go check out Brand Identity Guru. If you find any helpful tips, share them in the comments!
