Thanks, Congress! The College Cost Reduction and Access Act (that’s a mouthful) passed overwhelmingly, throwing $20 billion into the Pell Grant program and easing interest on Stafford loans. The highest Pell grant amount will rise from $4,050 to $5,400, while the interest rate on Stafford loans will fall from 6.8 percent to 3.4 percent. Nice work done by a Congress accused of not doing much at all. This act will benefit students all over the country.
