The type of student you don’t want to become

I’m walking around campus every day of the week, since I have classes on all of those days. Most days are nice – I walk to class, I learn stuff and I leave class. Sometimes though, I cross the path of someone completely and totally annoying and/or rude. I will now give you a list of those students – don’t become them.

1. The Baby-Mama Cell Phone Student – This student has her kid with her in a baby sling. The kid is crying like only babies know how to do, and this unexperienced mother tries to alleviate the baby’s suffering by talking non-stop on her cell phone. Seriously, to me, this is just as bad as locking your kid in the car. Not only are you neglecting your child, you are annoying everyone else around you. We don’t want to hear crying OR any of that he said/she said.

2. The Slow Freakin’ Walker – This student is sometimes alone but can also be with a friend. He or she walks unbelievably slow and takes up the entire sidewalk. So you have no choice but to find something to do to purposely slow yourself down for fear you will trip them and walk right over them. Either that or you’ll actually step down off the sidewalk and onto the road, risking your life amongst the moving cars just to pass them by.

3. The Know It All – They believe, sincerely, that they have the answer to everything. Even when it’s something open to interpretation, your answer will always be wrong and their answer will always be right. Class drags on forever because they have to interject their opinion every chance they get. If students in the class look at each other, roll their eyes and grumble under their breath when this person talks, that student is a definite Know It All.

This might become a recurring weekly post – things that annoy me on campus or in the classroom. There are so many and they would never fit into one post. Anyway, I hope you look over these and aspire never to become what I have described. Thank you.

  1. OMG, I can SOOOOO relate to these! Well, most of them, fortunately I haven’t ran into any “The Baby-Mama Cell Phone Students” yet! But OMG the amount of people that are talking on their cell phones while walking around campus, saying things that shouldn’t be said in public! I actually overheard one girl going into detail about the guy she was “with” the night before. Thanks for the laugh!
