Blog growth and the death of my laptop

My Feedburner stats indicate that I have 15 subscribed readers. Pretty cool! On top of that, I’m getting referrals from Google for college related searches (which really pleases me) and some visits from the various blogs I read and comment on (Lifehacker, Problogger, etc.). This blog is, if you want to get technical, a little over a month and a half old. For that age, I am really pleased with the progress I’ve made.

That being said, I suffered an unfortunate tragedy a few days ago - my laptop committed suicide.

As you can see from this picture, it was not a pretty sight to come home to. It is out of warranty and it looks like there’s nothing I can really do. So it looks as though my blog earnings will now go towards a new laptop. You’ll notice on the sidebar a dollar amount and the words “Laptop Fund”. I will be keeping track of how much I’ve saved up, and when I get to $1,000 I’ll buy a new one! Most of this money will come from my blog’s income, albeit very slowly. Other money could possibly come in from gracious friends and family. Needless to say, I won’t be buying any new office desks or those comfy leather chairs I had my eye on.

  1. I am sorry for the death. I do understand your pain. I have been looking for a laptop ever since I started blogging. It is a necessity for me, I have found. All I have at the moment is a PC. I can hear the “waaaa” from here from some folks but I have a very difficult time sitting in a chair for very long. Can’t put the PC where I could sit. It’s a pain, literally. So, I thought that I would try out that ChipIn deal you have there. Sounds like a good idea. Thanks!!!
