Send and receive money on your cell phone

Citi has rolled out a pretty cool service called obopay, which allows you to send and receive money with your cell phone. This could be cool for splitting a bill between friends at a restaurant, making good on a bet you lost and much more. I personally would love it if vending machines were somehow built to accept payments like this. Who carries change anymore?

Anyway, there is some incentive for you to sign up, even if you’ll never use the service. Citi is going to give you a free $10 just for registering! You can link your bank account to your obopay account, withdraw the $10 and be done with it. I personally am going to stick around and see if I can find a practical use for it on campus. Perhaps a review will be coming in the near future?
