Windows used to be the answer to it all until the later versions somehow encouraged users to look at other options. Buying and using earlier versions were clear and simple enough. The use of the XP version wasn’t exactly the same due to the necessity of registering with Microsoft to enable Windows to work and the licensing packages that it came with.
Linux, as one of the more prominent examples of free software and open source development, has found a golden opportunity in the users’ quest for more acceptable alternatives. Of course, it helped a lot that that it has tremendously improved since it was first introduced thereby providing ease of use and an exciting graphical interface. Linux users have discovered that the level of control they have over the operating system has not been diminished and there lies the beauty of it all.
